MV


What is the MV programme?
• A National accreditation scheme for all young volunteers aged 16-25
• It recognises the sustained commitment of 200 hours
o with recognition awards at 50 and 100 hours
o At 200 hours you will receive an Award of Excellence from the First Minister of The National Assembly for Wales.
• It recognised throughout the UK by employers and educational institutions
• 71% of MVs have used their experience on their CV’s
• In a recent survey 100% of MVs asked would recommend the programme to their friends

Millennium Volunteers


The programme aims to:-
• Make a positive impact within local communities
• Offer challenging and interesting volunteering opportunities for young people
• Enable young people to acquire new skills and knowledge and develop personally
• Increase recognition of volunteering by young people in the community
• Set a standard for volunteering opportunities in Wales
• Encourage Ownership of the programme by young people

Organisation and Including Young People


- If your organisation is thinking about including young people as volunteers you may want to contact the team at CAVO to find out the next steps for your organisation.
You may also find it useful to look at the WCVA website and the relevant policies that surround including volunteers and young volunteers.



MV in Your Organisation

- Millennium Volunteers (MV) is a UK wide volunteering programme for 16-24 year olds.

If your organisation is committed to involving young volunteers apply today!


Funded Status
Is your Organisation looking for a grant to help with volunteer costs?

- Does your organisation work with volunteer’s aged 16-25?
- Can you offer a young person the opportunity to make a sustained commitment to volunteering of 200 hours or more over a 12 months period?
- Do your volunteering opportunities benefit your local community?
- If the answer to these questions is yes then you could be eligible to apply for a Millennium Volunteers grant.

You can receive between £50 and £8000 towards volunteer’s costs.

Non- Funded Status


- Does your organisation already have opportunites for young people?
- Will these opportunities allow the MV’s to complete the 200 hours award?
- If your organisation does require additional funding to do so, you can apply for the non-funded MV Status.
- This will allow you to run the MV programe within your organisation without recieveing a grant.
- Applications for Non-funded status are ongoiing and will be assessed as they are received.
