On this next page you will find out information on the recognition scheme run in Wales called Millennium Volunteers. Information is available for young people aged 16-24 who want recognition for their voluntary activities, but also information about the funding available to organisations who currently involve 16-24 year olds or are looking to start involving young people as volunteers in their organisation.
Are you aged 16-24 years?

 

What is the MV programme?

  • A National accreditation scheme for all young volunteers aged 16-24
  • It recognises the sustained commitment of 200 hours with recognition awards at 50, 100 and 200 hours you will receive an Award of Excellence from the First Minister of The National Assembly for Wales.
  • It's recognised throughout the UK by employers and educational institutions
  • 71% of MVs have used their experience on their CV’s
  • In a recent survey, 100% of MVs asked would recommend the programme to their friends

  The programme aims to:-

  • Make a positive impact within local communities
  • Offer challenging and interesting volunteering opportunities for young people
  • Enable young people to acquire new skills and knowledge and to develop personally
  • Increase recognition of volunteering by young people in the community
  • Set a standard for volunteering opportunities in Wales
  • Encourage Ownership of the programme by young people

Are you an Organisation looking to include young people?


Organisations and Inclusion of Young People

If your organisation is thinking about including young people as volunteers you may want to contact the team at CAVO to find out the next steps for your organisation.

You may also find it useful to look at the WCVA website and the relevant policies that surround including volunteers and young volunteers.


Millennium Volunteers and your organisation

  • Millennium Volunteers (MV) is a UK wide volunteering programme for 16-24 year olds.
  • If your organisation is committed to involving young volunteers apply today!

 

Funded Status

  • Is your Organisation looking for a grant to help with volunteer costs?
  • Does your organisation work with volunteer’s aged 16-24?
  • Can you offer a young person the opportunity to make a sustained commitment to volunteering of 200 hours or more over a 12 month period?
  • Do your volunteering opportunities benefit your local community?
  • If the answer to these questions is yes then you could be eligible to apply for a Millennium Volunteers grant.
    • You can receive between £50 and £8000 towards volunteer’s costs.

Non- Funded Status

  •  Does your organisation already have opportunities for young people?
  •  Will these opportunities allow the MV’s to complete the 200 hours award?
  •  If your organisation does not require additional funding to do so, you can apply for the non-funded MV Status.
  • This will allow you to run the MV programme within your organisation without receiving a grant.
  • Applications for Non-funded status are ongoing and will be assessed as they are received.
