Welcome to the Youth Volunteering Page of the CAVO Website

This page is for any young person aged 14-25 in Ceredigion looking for ways to get into volunteering or getting recognition for their voluntary activity but also for organisations who want to or currently involve young people..

Are you age 14 -25?

Firstly allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Catherine, your Youth Volunteer Adviser (YVA) for Ceredigion. I am based with CAVO in Lampeter but cover the whole of the county sharing the borders with my counterparts. The post is funded through the Russell Commission now known as GwirVol whose aim is to “provide a step change in youth volunteering.” The post hopes to encourage, engage and inspire young people aged 14-25 years to become involved in voluntary activities in their local communities. You may see me at local comprehensive schools, Youth Clubs, Events and at Careers Wales providing up-to-date, accurate and accessible information about volunteering throughout county. The youth volunteering initiative in wales hopes to increase the scope of volunteering opportunities that are available to young people and reduce the barriers that prevent young people from volunteering. As a YVA I also ensure that opportunities are of a high quality standard so that you know you as a young volunteer will get the most out of your experience!!

On this site I will update it on a regular basis to ensure that information is always accessible to you so you best keep an eye out for updates in news and projects.

You will also see a number of links throughout the site that will help you get an insight into volunteering and GwirVol along with getting recognition for your voluntary involvement through Millennium Volunteers. For more information on GwirVol nationally across Wales visit GwirVol
For you social networkers out there we also have a Facebook page which has more information about volunteering and what’s going on locally and nationally just follow this link:-

GwirVol is led by young people who make up the GwirForce Panel.

GwirForce is split into three sub-groups which you can get involved with Nationally.
-    The Ambassadors
The Ambassadors' principal roles are to promote and encourage youth volunteering and establish new volunteering opportunities. They will also gather support for and organize and attend events.
-    The Engineers
The Engineers are the backbone of GwirForce. They are responsible for communication, succession planning, and the implications of the constitution, to name just a few.
-    The Marketeers
The Marketeers’ principal responsibilities are branding, advertising and merchandising.

To get involved at a local level your invited to join the GwirVol Youth Led Grants Panel ‘Dishing out the Dosh’.
Here a group of young people aged 14-25 that represent Ceredigion come together to deliver the Youth Led Grant of £5,000 to youth led volunteering opportunities.

For getting involved in either the GwirForce Panel or the Dishing out the Dosh panel contact the Youth Volunteer Adviser at CAVO on the following details:-

For information on arranging a informal chat with the Volunteer Centre please see below details of our next Drop-in dates that are held at Cardigan, Lampeter and Aberystwyth throughout the year.

Are you a organisation looking to involve young people?
