A BIT ABOUT VICTORIA HALL-VENUE LLAMBED
Victoria Hall-Venue Llambed is a newly renovated community centre managed by Lampeter Community Development Group. Situated on Bryn Road close to the town centre and University, the venue boasts several large spaces available for hire by local groups, a fully equipped theatre space with an elevated stage and lights, sound and backstage facilities for performances.
The Group hope that the venue will once again become a focal point for the community and its environs, putting Lampeter on the event map as well as servicing the local grass roots groups who have recently found themselves without a place to call home.
The Hall is currently a base for several outreach services such as DASH, Save Easy Credit Union and Lampeter Food Project as well as home to Stage Goats Youth Theatre and Dynamik Dance Company.
HOW THE VOLUNTEERS EARN TEMPO TIME CREDITS
Despite the pandemic, Lampeter Food project has been running from the hall for over a year and would not be possible without the hard work and efforts of its volunteers. Duties include collecting donated food from local supermarkets, sorting through, and boxing up orders for the recipients, organising collections and making deliveries-all under the watchful eye of Rachelle Dearden-Cooke who runs the project.
HOW DAVID USES HIS TEMPO TIME CREDITS
David says that he really likes the Tempo Time Credits idea as it makes him feel valued and appreciated as a volunteer as well as helping him make his weekly money go a bit further. Over the pandemic, he has continued to volunteer and has recently been able to buy shopping vouchers for his local supermarket as well as top-up his mobile phone which he cannot always afford to do and this has helped his family a lot.
A MESSAGE FROM John Moore, Trustee of Vic Hall-Venue Llambed :
“Even though we are still quite new to using Tempo Time Credits, we can already see the benefit of giving Time Credits to our current volunteers as well as using them to help us recruit new volunteers now that we are starting to look at a programme of events which includes performances, family entertainment, coffee mornings, craft fairs and a whole lot more as well as hiring the hall out to local groups. We are also going to join as a Recognition Partner so that we can also receive Time Credits in exchange for tickets to events, use of the hall as a community resource and services such as running the bar or kitchen for outside events etc”.
