A4W were introduced to Local Giving by our local CVC, CAVO during the summer of 2017. At the time Local giving were offering the first year’s subscription for free which was fantastic for us as a small Community Interest Company in our first year of trading. Lauren met me locally and talked me through the support that she and the rest of the team could offer to improve our online fundraising as well as showing me how set up our own personal page on the Local Giving website and how to access all of the materials on the website.
During our first year we were able to use promotional materials from the website, such as posters, images designed for Facebook and buttons that we could share and send out in our email newsletters to encourage people to donate online. This gave people the confidence to donate knowing that their personal details would be safe and not only did we get one off donations, we were lucky enough to get several monthly donors. We were able to tie one of our local fundraising events in with the Grow Your Tenner campaign, this meant that many of our donations were match funded which made a huge difference to our fundraising totals, it also meant that people who follow our Facebook page but live a distance away were able to donate quickly and easily.
The subscription to Local Giving has taken a huge amount of hassle out of fundraising with payments being made directly into our bank accounts, it has allowed us to raise our profile and has added a level of professionalism that we otherwise would not of had. When our first year came to an end our board voted to renew the subscription as the value it adds to us far outweighs the small financial cost.
