Community Health Councils (CHC) are the independent voice of people who live in Wales and use NHS services. We are made up of local volunteers who act as the eyes and ears of patients and the public. We are looking for enthusiastic people to encourage others to have their say about NHS services and be the important link between those who plan and deliver NHS services, those who inspect and regulate it and those who use it.
Becoming a CHC member will enable you to:
- Learn new skills
- Gain experience
- Work as part of a team
- Make a real difference in your local community.
As a CHC member you will:
- Consider health issues from the public’s viewpoint
- Speak to people in their communities about their views and experiences of the NHS services
- Visit local NHS services to hear from patients (and those who care for and about them) about their experiences
- Look at local and national NHS plans and proposals to make sure they meet the needs of local communities
- Meet regularly with NHS managers to make sure services meet the needs of local people.
You will receive full training and support to enable you to carry out your role and any ‘out of pocket’ expenses such as travel will be reimbursed.
